Nolan Eason

At 1:03AM on Friday, March 30, 2012 my first child was born - a son. We named him Nolan Eason. 21" long, 5lb 3oz. He was beautiful and perfect in every way, except that he was stillborn. As we searched for answers to his untimely death, we also searched for comfort. This blog was created as a way of working through my sorrow by trying to find something beautiful in the world each day. Hopefully, along the way it will help others to heal as well.

Moving Out

Today Marshall and I were heading back to Charlotte for what I hope will be the last time this year! Our plan is to pack up my apartment and move me out of there and finish up work on the house. Fortunately, we have finally found someone to help us on the house! And not just anyone either. Our super talented friend Stacey is coming to Charlotte with us. JoJo was about as excited as I was this morning to leave for Charlotte. When Marshall got out of bed to make coffee, JoJo hopped up in his spot in bed and snuggled in. She didn't have any interest in getting out of bed either. But, eventually both she and I had to get out of bed and get on the road.

On the way to meet Stacey for lunch, Marshall and I stopped to grab some coffee. Then we headed to PT's in Leland to grab some lunch before heading to Charlotte. After filing our bellies, we dropped Stacey's car off at her house and grabbed her bag and headed out. Stacey and JoJo rode with me and we beat Marshall to the NoDa house since he had to stop at Lowe's on the way in. While they got to work on caulking the base board in the entire house, I ran to Target to get sheets for the air mattress and cleaning supplies. When I got back they were done with the baseboard and had started in on the painting.

Once they got to a stopping point, we decided to head over to Dish and grab dinner. It was awesome as  always. I had my favorite, as always - chicken and dumplings - and Marshall had the meatloaf as he always does. We also ordered fried green tomatoes, which I had never had in my life. I do not like tomatoes, but I was convinced by Marshall and Stacey to try one and I have to say it was really good. I would have never ordered it on my own, but I'm glad I tried it. I would even venture to say I would eat them again. After dinner we picked up JoJo from the house and headed back over to the apartment. I cleaned up the house and made cookies while Marshall and Stacey watched some horrible werewolf movie. I bought tickets for the Rockettes show at Radio City Music Hall for my whole family and us for while we are in New York. The Rockettes was the one thing my Mom had wanted to do while we were in NY and I found discounted tickets online through Groupon so I went ahead and purchased them tonight for everyone. It got me even more excited about our upcoming trip.

Halfway through the horrible werewolf movie, Marshall went to bed and started snoring so loudly that Stacey and I couldn't help but laugh. What was even worse was we continued to watch the awful movie until it was over. It was like a disaster that you just could walk away from. Eventually I left Stacey to watch whatever she wanted and I too headed to bed so we could hit it hard in the morning. We only had a few days of Stacey's help so we had to make the most of it.
