Nolan Eason

At 1:03AM on Friday, March 30, 2012 my first child was born - a son. We named him Nolan Eason. 21" long, 5lb 3oz. He was beautiful and perfect in every way, except that he was stillborn. As we searched for answers to his untimely death, we also searched for comfort. This blog was created as a way of working through my sorrow by trying to find something beautiful in the world each day. Hopefully, along the way it will help others to heal as well.

Bye Bell Morrison

Marshall headed over to the house early this morning around 8:30 while Stacey and I stayed to pack up my car and clean the apartment. We finally got everything loaded up, turned in the keys and headed over to the NoDa house around 10:30am. Bye, Bye Bell Morrison apartments. Although they were nice and it was a convenient location, I will not be staying there again next year. Next season with having a baby and probably family coming in town to see the little guy, I will be getting a 2 bedroom place to have the room for everyone. My hope is a 2 BR house or townhouse, but we will just see what we can find within my price range.

After we dropped JoJo off at the house, Stacey and I then headed off Home Depot to pick up some stuff, including tile, grout and thin set, and then to Ikea to return some hooks and get some different ones. When we were done with our shopping adventure, I then dropped Stacey and the stuff off at the house so she could help Marshall and I went to Hawthorne's Pizza to pick up lunch. I got back and Marshall already had the Panther game on, so we ate and watched a bit of the Panther game. Boy were they getting creamed! They ended up losing big time to Denver. Ugh. We suck this year. It's so depressing. I've given up hope for us ever winning another game this season.

Marshall and Stacey had finished painting the two bedrooms so I made up the air mattresses to "stage" the house. They tiled the master bedroom fireplace and I cleaned up. We put together the closet door we bought from Ikea and installed it. It looks really great! We had been worried it would look cheap, but instead it looks super modern and cool. I like it so much, I think it's a great idea for us to do to our closet in the nursery back home. We had been trying to find something to put up that didn't slide on a track on the floor in which little fingers could get pinched in. The Ikea closet doors hang from the ceiling and ride just above the floor. They are also light and even if they did somehow fall off their tracks, they could do much harm to any little person that might be under them when they fall. Because the panels are fabric, we can also change them out easily and cheaply if and when they get messed up or the bedroom gets repainted.

We also hung the flower box we had bought from Ikea and Marshall rehung the mirror on the front porch. I then planted flowers in the flower box and it looked really great. I don't know how long the flowers will last without anyone there to water them, but for now they look really pretty. Finally Stacey and I left to head back to Wilmington a little before 8pm. We loaded up the car with whatever we could, leaving just a little room for JoJo. Poor thing had to duck under the ladder as we rode down the road a ways to return a step ladder we had borrowed from our friend Marnie. After we emptied the backseat of the ladder, JoJo was then able to sit up in her seat and enjoy the ride in comfort. We pulled through Taco Bell on the way out of town as we were starving and there wasn't many choices to be had. I was so exhausted it was all I could do to stay awake driving. Stacey had to keep talking to me just to keep me awake.

I was so happy to pull into my driveway and get into my bed. I didn't even unload anything except the cold food and my suitcase with my PJs. But of course, I lay down in bed and the baby who hasn't been kicking me for the 4 hour ride decides to wake up and start kicking me. Needless to say, it took me awhile before I could finally fall asleep so I watched a movie to pass the time in hopes that it would lull both of us to sleep. JoJo, however, was sound asleep the minute I turned off the light in the bedroom.
