Nolan Eason

At 1:03AM on Friday, March 30, 2012 my first child was born - a son. We named him Nolan Eason. 21" long, 5lb 3oz. He was beautiful and perfect in every way, except that he was stillborn. As we searched for answers to his untimely death, we also searched for comfort. This blog was created as a way of working through my sorrow by trying to find something beautiful in the world each day. Hopefully, along the way it will help others to heal as well.

Mom's Birthday

This morning my Mom, Candie and Jannah arrived in New York. My Mom texted me when they got to the hotel and Marshall and I headed out. We grabbed an egg and cheese on a roll at the deli on the corner from our hotel and then headed to Grand Central to take the sub down to Time Square. They were already out shopping by the time we got there so we met them at American Eagle. Marshall and I gave my Mom her birthday present for today is her birthday. She was so excited to see she finally had a camera! Then she looked at Marshall and said, "now you know you have to teach me how to use it." We went back to their hotel to drop off their purchases and then headed to the subway to go to Union Station. Marshall and I had seen on NY1 on TV last night that there was a craft market going on today at Union Station and that today was Support Local Businesses Day. So we mentioned the craft market to them and they all seemed interested in checking it out.

It was a pretty cool market. We ended up buying Brandy's Christmas gift there and my Mom bought her friend Katrina's gift there too. We got them both these cool fortune keeper keychains. Marshall found some long knitted toboggans and ended up getting both of us one. Mine is green and pink and I love it! I've always wanted a really long toboggan. We had some coffee and sat down in the middle of the market and Marshall gave my Mom a tutorial on how to use her camera. Before we left the market we found our niece Zsejke's Christmas present - a clock locket necklace. It was pretty cool and hopefully she will find it hip enough for her. Teenagers are so hard to buy for!

By the time we were finished shopping, we were all pretty hungry so we walked through a little park next to the market and found this little sports bar where we went in and had lunch. My Mom had chili with fritos chips on top, Candie and Jannah shared some burger sliders, Marshall had the meatball sliders and I had chicken tenders. It was all really pretty good. After lunch we walked down to a shoe store called Zakey's but nobody ended up finding anything there to buy.

It was after their check in time by this point so we decided to head back to their hotel, check them in and we lounged around for a bit while they settled in. We then left and took the sub to Columbus Square across from Central Park. We went to Century 21 shop first, then North Face and ended in the Time Warner shops. The only store Marshall and I went in there was H&M but we both found stuff to buy there. I found a pink and white oversized cardigan that is open front with no buttons and Marshall bought some carrot fit cords. He didn't think he would like them until he tried them on, but he said they were super comfortable so he got them.

From there we walked down towards Hell's Kitchen and found an Italian restaurant to have dinner at. It was true Italian as there was not a thing on the menu that was in English and all the waiters had thick accents. It was called Bricco and was really delicious. Now full and tired, Marshall gave them directions on how to get back to their hotel and we headed back to ours. I was so glad to lay down in the bed, my legs were throbbing and my feet were slightly swollen. Man what I wouldn't give for a good foot rub right now!
