Nolan Eason

At 1:03AM on Friday, March 30, 2012 my first child was born - a son. We named him Nolan Eason. 21" long, 5lb 3oz. He was beautiful and perfect in every way, except that he was stillborn. As we searched for answers to his untimely death, we also searched for comfort. This blog was created as a way of working through my sorrow by trying to find something beautiful in the world each day. Hopefully, along the way it will help others to heal as well.

Baha

After being about as unproductive as I could possibly be yesterday, I figured I should be slightly more productive today seeing how it was my last day off work this week. Tomorrow I start on reshoots for a movie called The Occult. I was actually working on The Occult when I found out Nolan had passed away. The Occult was the only show I had ever had to leave, obviously for reasons completely out of my control. Nevertheless, I was honored when they asked me to return to work on it for 3 days of reshoots in Wilmington. Since it was so close to the ending of my work on Homeland and because it was in town, I agreed to do it. It would definitely be my last job until after the baby comes.

Marshall and I went and had lunch with my Mom at Rucker Johns. They really do have the best salad around town and it doesn't hurt that it comes with a croissant dribbled with honey. So yummy! I had the salad and chili and it did not disappoint. After lunch, we drove by Screen Gems studios to pick up the script for The Occult and a call sheet for tomorrow. I saw Elizabeth in the office and she took me back to see Alison Semenza our UPM. Alison had been the Production Office Coordinator on the original shoot, but was the UPM now which was a great upgrade for her. It was great to see her and she asked me all about the pregnancy and told me how much she had been thinking about me. Before leaving I also ran into Dale Williams, another local UPM, Michael Jefferson our 1st AD and Frank Godwin our DP. It was nice to see them all as I had not seen any of them since probably March when I left The Occult.

We had a early dinner with our friend Melissa who had just recently moved to Wilmington to live with her brother and his girlfriend. Her brother Geoff had stayed with us for a few weeks when he first moved down here while Marshall helped him get a job on Revolution in the sound department. He is still currently working on Revolution full time, but apparently will be only doing 2nd unit work coming up. It was the first time I had meet his girlfriend Amanda, but she seemed very nice. We had dinner at Los Olos - a Baha Mexican restaurant and it was great as always. I would have loved to stay and visit with them longer, unfortunately I have a 6:30am call tomorrow and a 45 minute drive to set. So, we left dinner and I headed home to bed to try to get a decent amount of sleep before I had to get up.
