Nolan Eason

At 1:03AM on Friday, March 30, 2012 my first child was born - a son. We named him Nolan Eason. 21" long, 5lb 3oz. He was beautiful and perfect in every way, except that he was stillborn. As we searched for answers to his untimely death, we also searched for comfort. This blog was created as a way of working through my sorrow by trying to find something beautiful in the world each day. Hopefully, along the way it will help others to heal as well.

Nesting

I had an appointment with Dr. McLean today. The baby still looks good. I'm measuring slightly over 30 weeks. She agreed that we should induce at 37 weeks if the baby's lungs are fully developed. She is going to talk to MFM and see if they want to do the amnio or want her to do it, but she said I would have it around March 1st. She also recommended I go ahead and get the Tdap vaccine as getting it in my 3rd trimester would give the baby a little bit of immunity. The shot itself didn't hurt but my arm started hurting later in the evening. When Marshall got his he said his arm was sore for 3 days afterwards. We'll see how long the soreness lasts for me.

I think it is safe to say that now that I'm home and not working and Marshall is gone, I am in full "nesting" mode. My nesting phase has mostly consisted of cleaning and organizing. It started with the need to clean all the baby clothes we've been given and put them away, and then today I decided I would reorganize the laundry room. Why the laundry room? I have no idea. Perhaps because it was a small task that I could easily finish in a day and have a sense of fulfillment with. I worked on cleaning up the laundry room first, including wiping down both the washer and dryer. Next, I installed the new track for the bifold doors and put the new knobs on the doors. Still not completely satisfied, I went to Walmart and bought a shelving unit to put in between the washer and dryer to organize things. Once I was home and the shelving unit was in place and things were properly stowed in it, then I finally felt as though my task was complete. At least one room was tidy and well organized now. I'm sure I will eventually make my way through the entire house before it is all said and done.
