Nolan Eason

At 1:03AM on Friday, March 30, 2012 my first child was born - a son. We named him Nolan Eason. 21" long, 5lb 3oz. He was beautiful and perfect in every way, except that he was stillborn. As we searched for answers to his untimely death, we also searched for comfort. This blog was created as a way of working through my sorrow by trying to find something beautiful in the world each day. Hopefully, along the way it will help others to heal as well.

Boobs & Butts

Mom came and picked me up this morning so we could head to Goldsboro for Brandy's lingerie party. We are having the party at my Aunt Linda's house so she is helping me with the party. We probably would have made it to my aunt's house shortly after noon, but Mom missed the turn off the highway and before we knew it we were all the way to Smithfield. Oops!

Fortunately, my aunt's house is on the Smithfield side of Goldsboro so we didn't screw up too bad. We finally got there around 12:30pm and had plenty of time to put everything out before guests starting arriving at 2pm. Brandy came fashionably early so I was able to take some pictures of her at her shower before everyone arrived. She ended up having a really good turnout. I think only a couple of people on the guest list ended up not showing up. I knew most of the people there as the were her family (most of which were my family too) but I didn't know a couple of her friends that showed up and I hadn't met her fiancee's mother yet. Brandy looked super cute as always and she got a bunch or really great lingerie. Some of which she will probably only wear on her honeymoon and never again and some of which she will probably wear from time to time. Her Uncle Brent also sent her a gift. It was plaid flannel footed pajamas with a button front and a rear flap for bathroom usage. He said it was the only thing he could imagine her wearing. It was really funny and I am sure she actually will wear it.

After everyone had left, Mom's friend Katrina stopped by to visit for a bit. Finally around 7:30pm we packed everything up and headed back home to Wilmington. I was pretty exhausted by the time we made it home and my cold was starting to act up again as I was coughing and sneezing. It's funny how colds always do that at night as if making you feel miserable during the day isn't bad enough, they have to make it impossible for you to breathe at night so sleep is not possible. I stayed up for a bit to talk to Marshall. He had spent the day hanging around Charleston, mostly with his coworker JT. He did go to the baby store and picked out a bassinet for the baby. He had called me several times before the shower to ask my opinion about the bassinet as opposed to the moses basket. I finally just let him get whatever one he liked the best, knowing that if it didn't fit in our room or I absolutely just hated it we could take it back and exchange it for a moses basket. Honestly, we just need something that will fit in our room that the baby can sleep in when we bring him home. It will mostly likely also be what the baby sleeps in while we are in Charlotte. At least until the baby gets too big for it and we have to move him to a pack and play. The poor little guy won't get a chance to sleep in his own crib until he's 8 months old! Oh well, such is life out of town. He might as well learn to adapt now. I was proud of Marshall actually taking the initiative to go shopping at a baby store on his own. It seems that the closer we get to the baby's arrival the more open he is to getting the things we still need for the baby. Maybe once we get passed the dreaded 34 week mark we can go shopping and get all the things we still need. Some of them are things we will need pretty immediately, but there area few we can get away without for a couple of months.
