Nolan Eason

At 1:03AM on Friday, March 30, 2012 my first child was born - a son. We named him Nolan Eason. 21" long, 5lb 3oz. He was beautiful and perfect in every way, except that he was stillborn. As we searched for answers to his untimely death, we also searched for comfort. This blog was created as a way of working through my sorrow by trying to find something beautiful in the world each day. Hopefully, along the way it will help others to heal as well.

Burgers and Balls

We were shooting only about 10 minutes from my apartment first thing this morning, however our crew parking was near downtown which took me more like 20 minutes to get there. Then I had to take a 10 minute van ride back towards where I just came from to get to set. On days like this, it makes me made I just can't park near the set. It would have saved me 20 minutes in drive time and another 10 minutes of waiting around for a van at crew parking. We were, however, shooting near right next door to Zack's Hamburgers. Unfortunately, we left our first location right before lunch so weren't able to stick around and have lunch there. But, Rob our 2nd 2nd AD sent one of his Pas over there and got us and our writer Meredith some Zack burgers while we were at our 2nd location.

Our 2nd location was a printing press. As soon as I walked in there I knew there was no way I was staying in there and a lot of the crew had the same reaction. The fumes were so strong in there, I was not taking the chance of something happening to my baby because I stupidly sat in there. I made it known right away to our 1st AD that if they couldn't put a monitor outside for me then they needed to call Dan from the office and get him down here because I wasn't sitting in there with the fumes the rest of the night. I am usually not one to say anything or complain at work and I'm definitely not one to usually stand up for myself when it comes to working conditions. Today, I knew I had to have the balls to say something if not for me for the health of my baby. Fortunately, our writer/producer Meredith totally had my back and made them put one video village outside for herself and me. Claire ended up sitting out there with us as well as she didn't need to be in there any more than I did.

After we finished our work at the printing press, we had some process trailer work to do downtown. While we were out filming on the process trailer the rest of the crew was playing their gambling game LCR. We did end up wrapping by 11:30pm, which was much earlier than I had anticipated.
