A Blog about stillbirth and how to move on after the loss of a baby
Nolan Eason
At 1:03AM on Friday, March 30, 2012 my first child was born - a son. We named him Nolan Eason. 21" long, 5lb 3oz. He was beautiful and perfect in every way, except that he was stillborn. As we searched for answers to his untimely death, we also searched for comfort. This blog was created as a way of working through my sorrow by trying to find something beautiful in the world each day. Hopefully, along the way it will help others to heal as well.

Monitoring
Marshall and I spent quite a bit of time last night looking at consumer reports and other reviews on baby monitors and umbrella strollers. The baby monitor was the last big thing we needed to get before the baby arrived and I had decided we needed a smaller more portable travel stroller as the BOB was quite heavy and did not fold up very compactly. Since Marshall is more the tecky guru in the house, I told him he had to pick the monitor he liked best. He settled on the Summer Infant BabyTouch Digital Video Monitor - aka the iPad of Baby Monitors. Not only does the monitor provide you with a clear image during the day and night time, it also allows two way communication with you and the baby so you can sing the baby back to sleep without entering the room. I think the feature Marshall liked the best though was that you could remotely pan and scan the monitor and zoom in using the touch screen parental viewing unit. Online it showed that Target carried the monitor, so we thought we would venture into the store to see if they by chance had it in stock. Not only did they, but we actually caught it on sale! Yippee! Every little bit helps as these things are not cheap, but the peace of mind we will have will be well worth it.
While at Target today picking up some miscellaneous items we needed for the house and baby, Marshall decided to peruse the pet aisle in search of a new toy for JoJo. I guess he didn't want her to feel left out with all the new things we were buying for the house and the baby so he decided she needed a new toy. He settled on a squeaky tennis ball pack - five of them to be precise. We were hardly in the door before he had it opened and was giving one to JoJo. She absolutely loved it! While Marshall packed up his car I played fetch with JoJo in the front yard with her new ball. She continued to squeak the ball all night long, not letting it get more than two feet from her. She even carried it into the bedroom with her to go night night. I'm glad she loves it, I just wish she loved quieter toys as much. Oh well, she's already managed to chew a crack into the ball so I don't expect it to last more than another day or two.
