Right before we left to go to the mall our four year old Keurig decided to die on us. It had been trying to for some time so we decided to go purchase another one. After a trip to Bed, Bath and Beyond to get some new curtains for our kitchen, we stopped at Costco to pick up our new and improved Keurig. When we got home, Shea was waiting for us. As Marshall put together our Keurig our nephew Robi pulled up. He drove all the way from Boone on his spring break to be here for the birth of his new cousin tomorrow. Not many 22 year old boys would do that but it really means a lot to both of us that he would want to be here for this special event. Susan showed up a little later with dinner from Buffalo Wild Wings. We all chowed down and while us girls watched Twilight, the boys went and played Xbox. It was a fun evening now I'm just hoping I can get a little bit of sleep before I have to get up and call the hospital at 5:30am! Nolan Eason
At 1:03AM on Friday, March 30, 2012 my first child was born - a son. We named him Nolan Eason. 21" long, 5lb 3oz. He was beautiful and perfect in every way, except that he was stillborn. As we searched for answers to his untimely death, we also searched for comfort. This blog was created as a way of working through my sorrow by trying to find something beautiful in the world each day. Hopefully, along the way it will help others to heal as well.

Induction Eve
Well tomorrow as long as everything goes well we will be going in to the hospital to induce our baby and hopefully will be holding him in our arms sometime later tomorrow. Marshall and I both were feeling a bit anxious and stressed today and it ended up with us having odds with each other over nothing at all. We eventually sat down and talked through our feelings and realized we both were just so nervous about setting foot back in the labor and delivery hall where we were just shy of a year ago with the most horrible event of our life. I'm hopeful that this time things are going to be much different and our experience is going to be much better all around. We finally got ready and went to the mall where we ran into Karson my Zumba instructor of all people. Marshall was finally able to meet her in person and told me she was exactly as he had pictured her. She was there with her husband and little boy whom we met as they were going for a ride on the mall train. Yep that will be us in a year or so. We then grabbed a snack in the food court and then walked down so I could get my nails repainted. My toenails still looked great from my pedicure last week but my nail polish was all chipped off. The guy did a really great job and they look way better now.

Date Night
We didn't have anything planned to do today so Marshall and I both just hung around the house. He worked on editing together the silhouette picture of me he took the other day with an ultrasound picture of the baby. It took us awhile to figure out how to do everything we wanted to do on photoshop as neither of us have played on photoshop much and definitely not recently. Eventually, we figured it out though and it turned out really nice I thought. I had been a little leery about it but I thought it was tastefully done. I spent the morning doing laundry and knitting. I finally finished the diaper cover to go with my latest baby toboggan. Now hopefully they will actually fit the little guy.
We both eventually showered and got ready for our big "date night." Since it might very well be the last time we get to go out just the two of us for awhile, it was nice to have some time just the two of us. Marshall had made reservations at Port City Chop House for dinner and so he picked me up after ukulele class and we headed over there. Dinner was really good and I got my steak that I wanted. When we got home my Mom was still over using our computer to do her taxes and my cousin Jay came over shortly after to hang out with us for a bit. Mom finished her taxes shortly after we were home and headed home herself but Jay hung out for awhile after she left. He too eventually left and Marshall and I enjoyed our last night alone together by turning on a movie and falling asleep.

Coffee with Kids
This morning we had coffee day with Tina and Dino at Barnes and Noble. We all commented on how much our coffee days had changed in the last year as we sat there with Dino's 16 month old son Dylan, Tina's 7 month old daughter Harper and me with a very pregnant belly. I guess this is what our life is going to be from here on out. Coffee days with kids. Everything is about to be all about children. Play dates and birthday parties. After coffee, Marshall and I headed down to Monkey Junction and met my Dad for lunch. He's working the rest of the week so it was our last chance to spend time with him alone before the baby came. We also had agreed to watch Dylan for Dino for a couple of hours this afternoon, so we headed over there directly after lunch. Dylan wasn't asleep when we got there but I could hear him talking quietly to himself in his crib. About 30 minutes after Dino left I noticed I hadn't heard Dylan in awhile so I went to check on him and found him sound asleep in his crib with his thumb in his mouth. That boy is definitely going to be a thumb sucker as he had it in his mouth at coffee this morning too.Susan and Shea came over for American Idol. Shea brought pizza that we cooked for dinner. Susan also brought me over some homemade chicken salad for me to have. Yum. That is totally going to be lunch tomorrow. American Idol still didn't impress me tonight.

37 Weeks and 4 days
I had what is definitely my last ultrasound appointment this morning at MFM. Fortunately, since everything got delayed a week and Marshall is at home he was able to go with me to this final ultrasound. Baby boy was doing great and passed his BPP test with no problem. The ultrasound tech kept asking me if I was diabetic which was a little unnerving to me as I am not. I know diabetic women tend to have big babies so I hope that is not what she was after. We didn't get a picture of the little guy's face, but we saw all his other parts including his private ones. Yep, all boy. Definitely not shy about showing us that. When we saw Dr. Reddick she expressed how disappointed she also was to hear that the lung maturity came back negative and we had to wait another week. She said everything still looked great though and asked when my induction was scheduled for. She wished us luck and told me if I needed anything or had any concerns or questions this week to just come in or give them a call.
After our appointment it was nice weather outside so we came home and put together the base for my swingasan chair. Marshall tried it out first and seeing that it was very sturdy and not inclined to fall or tip over he let me swing in it some. JoJo seemed to like the new addition to the front porch as well for she found her a spot to lay between it and the house. I can see many days in our near future sitting here on the front porch enjoying the nice weather and rocking the baby. I can't wait. Now if Saturday will just hurry up and get here so that can happen!Shea ended up bringing Tynik over tonight so he could see "Uncle Marsh." He was so excited to see him and to play his dinosaur game on his iPad. The two of them sat on the couch and played while Shea and I watched The Bachelor. Tynik is so excited about our baby and keeps asking when are we going to have the baby so he can see him. He told Shea its going to be a super cute baby because its not just my baby it's Marshall's too. Tynik was a great distraction tonight to keep us busy instead of fixating on how much longer we had until Saturday.

Snuggle Bug
JoJo is definitely making the most of her last week as the only child as she snuck into bed again this morning and proceeded to snuggle up between us with her head on the pillow. She was so sweet and cuddly this morning it made it really hard to get out of bed. I decided to try my hand at a more advanced toboggan knitting pattern I had today and I not only conquered it I made the entire hat in a day. Of course, all I pretty much did was knit today and play with JoJo but it was a nice relaxing day. I spent some of the day trying to clean up some last things around the house I wanted done before the baby came but all in all it was a loungy type of day.Sunday, March 3, 2013
Glow in the Dark
Our friend Stacey got a call on Friday for the awesome opportunity to go to NY for at least a month but probably more like 3 to work on the next Spiderman movie. While it was great for her career and she gets to live with and work with her fiancee Brian, it was not good timing for baby since things are delayed a week. She was so upset to learn that she will now miss the birth as she flies out tomorrow morning for NY. So, today Marshall and I made plans to meet her for lunch and spend a little time with her before she had to leave town. Since Marshall was out at Best Buy with his friend Geoff, Geoff and his fiancee Amanda ended up meeting us for lunch as well. We ate at Towne Grill at Mayfaire and the fish and chips were great as always. I am finding that I can no longer finish my meals as I become very full feeling a lot quicker than I had been. I guess the little guy is taking up so much room in there my stomach doesn't have room to expand anymore.
After lunch, Marshall and I rode over to Pier 1 imports and bought the base for my swingasan chair so I will finally be able to use it even though Marshall has forbid me from using it while I'm still pregnant. After purchasing that we walked over to the Brilliant Sky toy store to see if they had glow in the dark stars for the nursery. Marshall wanted to stick the stars on the wall by the moon. They did indeed have stars, but they also had this really cool light by Boon. The light changed colors or you could set it on any particular color you want. The coolest part though was the balls on the top of the base would come off and glow in the dark for an additional 30 minutes off the base. We thought that would be really cool for a kid that might be afraid of the dark as they could take the balls with them. So, of course, Marshall bought it despite its hefty price tag of $75. When we got home we put the lights in the nursery and I have to admit it is a really cool room at night and not the least bit scary or dark. It will be a very serene place to spend the evenings for sure. Saturday, March 2, 2013
One Week
I ended up sleeping for well over 10 hours last night and it felt amazing. Minus of course about 6 trips to the bathroom during the night, it was the most sleep I had had collectively over the last three nights. JoJo was glad to see we were still home this morning as she eagerly jumped into bed for some snuggles this morning and proceeded to take over the entire bed. I think Marshall and I both were in a funk still from the news of last night. I didn't really have much desire to go and do much of anything today so I sat on the couch, watched TV and knitted. I finally finished an elf hat I was knitting for the baby and also made a matching diaper cover. I thought they would be cute for newborn pictures. Now hopefully they will just fit the baby.Later in the afternoon I received a text from Dr. McLean saying my induction was scheduled for next Saturday. I would have to call at 5:30am next Saturday and see if they have a bed available for me and if they do I will go in at 7am. If not, it could be anytime that day when they do have a bed available. So I have one whole week to wait until hopefully we get to meet our son. It's going to be a very long week.
